The twinkling lights outside The Clissold Arms
invited us in to sample the delights of the bar and spoils of the chef but nothing could prepare us for the visual tasks, memory challenges and of course, the frustrating music round. As always, competition was rife. After all, this was an N10 audience! However, the victorious table deserved the kudos of winning one of Veronica's mind boggling quizzes.

From the outset I was inwardly focussed and although very grateful for all the well wishers who urged me on, I sought out the encouragement and familiar faces of friends and family on the way at the pre-arranged milestones. The first 15 miles were relatively comfortable then the odd niggle that I mostly ignored called for attention. By mile 20 the dull ache of the hips and back and the stubbed toes persisted as did my determination; thankfully, the latter won that battle. Would I do it again ....probably! Susan Steeds
